DIY Turmeric Face Mask // Skin Care

Turmeric powder is my absolutely favourite win-win ingredient. You can use it for cooking, drinks, skincare.. u name it. It’s a very important element of the Ayurvedic medicine in India where the turmeric face mask has been used for centuries.

This mask is my all time favourite mask when my skin feels dull and needs some glow. It’s never my to-go mask though because of the post-tint effect. But I usually use it when I’m staying at home the whole day or if it’s the day before an event. I also love to use it when I feel skin irritation as it can help to prevent and reduce upcoming breakouts. And last but not least.. It’s all natural ingredients you always have on hand!!

This mask has lots of benefits. Turmeric fights signs of aging (antioxidants that slow down cell damage), reduce acne scars and blemishes dark spots naturally. It’s great for people with acne as it helps reducing the oil in your skin. Otherwise it brightens the skin and feels refreshing.

Another ingredient used in this mask is yogurt. The lactic acid in yogurt dissolves dead skin cells and exfoliates the skin. Yogurt is also the key to the moisturizing effect. Be sure to use yogurt with no flavour! And also try to avoid yogurt with low fat as we kinda need the fat to help moisturizing the skin.

At last we have Mr. Lemon. Lemon contains anti-bacterial properties that kill bacteria responsible for acne and simple breakouts. Otherwise it tones oily skin and deep-cleanses the skin. But it’s very important to go easy with lemon as it can irritate your skin.

2 tbsp natural yogurt
½ tsp turmeric powder
4 drops of lemon

Mix the ingredients together and leave it in the fridge for about 10 min. Apply onto clean face and leavy it on for 15 minutes. Rinse off gently with warm water – don’t do it in a white sink!
P.S. It’s all normal to have a yellow tint after the mask. Just rinse with warm water a couple of time and it will disappear after a few hours.
